WORKSHOP ON

“FINALIZING DRAFT OF CAMFEBA’S PLAN OF ACTION ON THE ELIMINATION OF CHILD LABOR (WF) (CAMFEBA - PAECL)

IN CAMBODIA (2012-2016)”

P5220893On 22 May 2012 at InterContinental Hotel, Cambodian Federation of Employers and Business Associations (CAMFEBA), with the financial support from ILO-IPEC, organized a workshop on “the Finalizing Draft of CAMFEBA’s Plan of Action on the Elimination of Child Labour (Worst Forms) (CAMFEBA – PAECL) in Cambodia (2012-2016)”and this workshop was presided over by H.E. Madame  Prak Chantha, Secretary of State of Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the Chairperson of National Sub-Committee on Child Labour (NSC-CL). More importantly, there were 40 participants attending this workshop and those participants were representatives of Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT), Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSAVY), Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS), Ministry of Planning (MOP), Cambodian Chamber of Commerce (CCC), ILO, Trade Unions and Employers (CAMFEBA members).

During the workshop, the draft of CAMFEBA’s Plan of Action on the Elimination of Child Labor (WF) (CAMFEBA-PAECL) in Cambodia (2012-2016) was presented to not merely receive the feedbacks as well as the inputs from the stakeholders in order to improve the quality of this draft but also to ensure the developed plan would be perfectly set in term of theory and practice. Ultimately, CAMFEBA contributed to this event actively due to the fact that CAMFEBA will be a key player and the sole representative of the private sector in Cambodia. This action plan was designed as the roadmap for CAMFEBA’s contribution and commitment to achieving twin goals of the Royal Government of Cambodia through the 2015 national child labor reduction target and the ILO global target to end the worst forms of child labor in Cambodia by 2016.

At the end of the day, it was regarded as the very successful event as it was capable of drawing a lot of attention and participation from the various key stakeholders. The plenty of recommendations and feedbacks were given within the purpose of developing a good final draft of the CAMFEBA’s Plan of Action on the Elimination of Child Labor (WF) (CAMFEBA-PAECL) in Cambodia (2012-2016) before being dispatched to the key relevant persons of the project, particularly the top management level of CAMFEBA for official acceptance and endorsement.
