A merger is generally defined as the joining of two or more different organizations under one common management structure. It has impacts on the employees of the organizations at every level. There are always issues along with the HR works in merging process includes employer branding, market talent mapping and retaining, communicating and Coaching techniques, and measurements of talent acquisition effectiveness.

To enable business competiveness and develop the market expansion, a number cooperates who operated the services in Cambodia in the past has been merged or acquired by others. Mr. Cheong Seng Gee
Executive Director P.O.D, Malaysia

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

   Cheong Seng Gee was the Executive Director of Professional and Organisation Development Sdn Bhd and currently the Executive Director of P.O.D. Advisory Sdn Bhd, both being consulting companies which specialise in human resource management, industrial relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, executive search and recruitment and organisational design which he co-founded in July 1994 and November 2003 respectively.

Mr Cheong is currently in the Nominations and Remuneration Committee of Mentri Besar Incorporated Selangor (MBI Selangor) and a Director of Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (a sand mining company under MBI). Prior to that he held Directorships in Amanah Unit Trust (a fund management company) and Modern Handling Equipment Sdn Bhd (an industrial conveyor systems company).

Prior to founding POD, Mr Cheong has served in corporate positions as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Perwaja Steel Sdn Bhd (a government-linked company), Corporate Adviser to Arab-Malaysia Corporation Bhd (a public listed company), Director of Corporate Affairs of the Stamford College Group (a public listed company in education), Country Manager of Malaysian Ventures Berhad (Malaysia’s first venture capital company) and Assistant Manager of Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad (an investment bank).

Mr Cheong has offered corporate advice in areas such as corporate due diligence, business development, corporate turnaround and restructuring, business plans and strategies. He has also been a supervisor for MBA students on venture capital projects under the Malaysian Institute of Management’s (MIM) MBA Programme, the MIM’s Entrepreneur Club, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce. He has also conducted Continuing Professional Development Programme for the Australian Society of Certified Public Accountants for East and West Malaysia as a subject matter expert on topics covering Venture Capital and Stock Market Investments in Malaysia and the CPA Australia Annual Conference in Adelaide in 1996.

In his 21 years of corporate HR consulting, he was instrumental in the formulation and training of Human Resource Policies, personality profiling, career profiling, 360 competencies, compensation packaging job evaluation, Business Strategies leading to Strategic Mapping, Balanced Scorecard and KPIs setting for multinationals, conglomerates, public listed companies and government linked corporations.

His qualifications include a Bachelor of Science, Honours, from the University of Malaya, Diploma in Marketing, UK and MBA (Finance and Investments) from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
